UPDATE: In responce to the article below on drugs

October 30th, 2009 at 6:59 pm by Dime

Oh dear oh dear.
I really didn’t see this comming to be honest, just the obvious way of silencing someone with scientific facts that go against the grain of personal moral and political agendas.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8334774.stm

Nutt has been sacked for his comments, it’s amazing how the Home Secretary can claim to have “lost faith” in the gentleman’s ability to advise when all they did in the first place was fucking ignore him. From my point of view it’s a classic case of:

“We know you’ve got the evidence that backs up your claims and have proven the result in a scientifically controlled test, however, these facts contradict with our own personal opinions, so we’re going to sack you”.

“Public concern over the links between high-strength cannabis, known as skunk, and mental illness led the government to reclassify cannabis to Class C last year.”

Er… hang on a second, two things here. I’m fairly sure the BBC have fucked up royally here, the drug WAS class C and it was reclassified to B. Also as someone has just pointed out to me, where exactly was this so called public concern and how was it expressed? Have I failed to notice a giant campaign with a petition going round?

Was there a vote that happened that no one seems to know about? Public concern my fucking asshole, that’s just made up bullshit. I was concerned when it went back up to Class B for no particular reason meaning someone could face 5 years inside for possession; that’s fucking cause for concern.

I lost faith in the government pretty badly when they got elected in the first place, not to mention when an unelected PM suddenly steps into the post unchallanged. Things like this however, just add to the pile quite nicely. So anyway, lets ignore the scientific evidence about what drugs actually do to people, sack the poor frustrated Professor that attemps to actually tell the truth about the matter, stick our fucking heads back in the sand, stop questioning things and bow down to the almighty out of touch, bent, corrupt labour government and their unelected leader.

It’s strange that I did plenty of weed in my teenage years and in university and I managed to grow up into a good citizen that pays their taxes and works a normal job. I’ve managed to avoid a criminal record nicely by er… not breaking the law. Can’t really see how me enjoying a joint behind closed doors and giggling a bit is really anyone elses business in the fucking first place, but there we go, lets all go get pissed until we can’t see anymore eh?

Top scientific adviser to the government Mr Nutt clearly agrees with my viewpoint, the government do not. SO WHY EMPLOY PEOPLE IN THE FIRST PLACE TO GIVE YOU ANSWERS IF YOU’RE JUST GOING TO FUCKING IGNORE THEM WHEN YOU DON’T LIKE THE ANSWER.

Strange that the majority of the bent as fuck politicians clearly stay away from drugs but still manage to commit crime after crime, avoid prison and then somehow get promoted and put back into a position of further power. How the fuck Mandelson is allowed anywhere near parliament with his track record is simply dumbfounding, the guy is an out and out criminal.

So I guess for that matter, power is quite a strong drug too and left unregulated like it is corrupts people far worse than some chemicals ever will.

Ignoring science - drugs facts

October 29th, 2009 at 3:22 pm by Dime

It must be one of the must frustrating feelings in the world to be at the top of your profession, equipped with serious intellectual scientific understandings, put into a position of authority and then completely and utterly ignored.

I’m talking about a gentleman called Professor David Nutt who heads the committee that advises the home office on drug classification.

Take a look at the story reported here where the gentleman is quoted verbatim words that have come out of his mouth about his understanding of the classification of drugs within the UK.

So from that article the advisory council that tells the HO findings from the proven scientific tests they have conducted, in a controlled environment:

Alcohol and tobacco are more dangerous than cannabis and ecstasy
Ecstasy is currently rated as a class A drug even though his scientific feelings are that it is no more dangerous than riding a horse
Nutt argues the distinction drawn between the harm caused by illegal and legal drugs is moral and political, not scientific.

I couldn’t agree more to be honest.

It’s high fucking time that the HO took notice of the scientists they employ and altered the laws accordingly. This is a subject I am not exactly passionate about, but it does get my fucking goat when people pay scientists to find the answers to important questions, then completely fucking ignore them because some idiot in power actively chooses to ignore the scientific evidence and act purely and selfishly on their own morals, whatever they may be.

I remember my mother’s reaction and colleagues reaction when they learnt I smoked a bit of weed in university and on the odd occasion after leaving. It ranged from disgust, sheer terror, disappointment and so on, totally unjustified reactions to the fact that it was weed which had a large stigma attached to it.

The amusing thing though is people openly joke with their mates about how wasted they might have got on a night out, to the point of not being able to see, getting into fights etc. Personally I’d much rather be legally allowed to sit in my own home with a joint, laughing my ass off at comedy and causing harm to nobody than mixing with a bunch of pricks in town off their nut on beer getting into fights, vandalising property.

Another thing that amuses me slightly, the complete and utter lack of tying together the fact that alcohol is actually a drug, as well as tobacco. Do you smoke? Yes/No. Do you drink? Yes/No. Do you do drugs? Yes/No? Erm… surely if you’ve just answered yes to smoking or drinking you are actively admitting taking drugs? They ARE drugs, they’re just legal, plain and simple, someone in authority somewhere down the line has turned around and said “hey we can tax this, lets legalise it”.

It might be worth a read into exactly why this substance was banned in the US… and it’s quite an interesting read as their founding fathers and early presidential members encouraged the cultivation of Hemp, mostly for it’s fibres and paper producing properties. See if you can work out why it got banned with hideous penalties enforced on the poor sod smoking a joint.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_history_of_cannabis_in_the_United_States

Anyway, the poor bastard Professor Nutt must literally sit at work wondering why he bothers.
The sheer notion of some fucking idiot (Jacqui Smith) being able to over rule a top scientific Home Office appointed advisor, purely because she wanted to, off the back of her own limited understanding and morals is a disgrace and should not be allowed to happen. Ever.

Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition (PS3)

October 28th, 2009 at 3:55 pm by Dime

The original was great value for money, the experience vast and rewarding albeit very hard work from the start when you’re left almost helpless after escaping the vault.

The game is so huge and complex in places there are a sea of bugs you can run into which spoil the experience a tad and also cause the system to run like a dog if played for prolonged periods of time.

The game of the year edition gives you 5 extra add on packs and can be had for just over 30 quid. For all it’s faults the overall experience is pretty much amazing, the game breaks the mould for depth of experience and the sheer vast amount of things to see, people to meet and objectives to complete. Not to mention the wealth of dialogue options you’re presented with coupled with the various stats and perks you can grant your character as you level up, the game can be played in so many different ways you’ll get something different out of playing it all the way through 5 times in a row.

If you’ve not played this game, buy it, play it, play it through again doing things differently and you’ll pick up on something new on each iteration. Well worth the cash and wasting a bit of time on.

First time I’ve said anything remotely positive on here for ages, so let it be done.

Retarded protestors

October 25th, 2009 at 12:32 pm by Dime

I didn’t see the program Question Time the other night on the BBC, but I did notice the protests that were reported in the news; the goings on outside the BBC physical building.

I find this all a bit bemusing, lets break it down.

Whether or not anyone agrees with Nick Griffin’s principals and morals is one thing, however, his right to freedom of speech within the media is unquestionable. Putting aside his party’s ideals, the guy is an elected member of parliament which means, like it or seriously despise it, he is representing a group of people’s views.

The BBC in this case, were utterly 100% correct to invite him onto Question Time to answer any questions put at him via the audience. The best way to take down any fuckend that holds extreme ideals and allows the harbouring and support of racist values is to let them do it themselves via self destruction. From what I understand the guy didn’t come across as terribly intelligent and did nothing to assure anyone he was a decent public speaker, result.

Unfortunately the vast majority of BNP supporting people probably  won’t be watching Question Time or even understand/care about the complete cock their leader made of himself.

Anyway, the protestors, this confused me quite a lot. If you’re going to protest anything, protest against the cunts that elected this guy into power, not the BBC who did their duty of freedom of speech letting an elected MP onto TV, for once I completely and utterly defend them.

You see what is happening here is quite amusing, because by protesting against the freedom of speech of Nick Griffin, the protestors are actually protesting for nazism. Ironically they’re using their own freedom of protest/speech to protest against Nick Griffin having… his own freedom of speech. Protesting to suit their own means and ideals is fine, but using it to effectively silence others and remove their own freedom of speech to me has seriously strong facist tendancies.

I wonder if they realise this?

Perhaps… just perhaps, the protestors are themselves mildly below par intelligence individuals that seem to have utterly missed the point that by promoting their extremist views to silence others, be they the other end of the scale or not, they’re actually just as bad, if not worse than people like Nick Griffin.

Contacting web based companies

October 22nd, 2009 at 2:00 pm by Dime

It fucking rages me to the core when all you need to do is contact a website to ask a fucking simple question and it’s made next to impossible to do so.

In regards to the article below about RRPs, I wanted to contact Play.com to see where they got the RRP figure from and if they could confirm it was accurate. Just because I wanted to know, alright?

So I logged in.. and attempted to seek out “help.
I get a stupid fucking menu with a list of items on it but no actual way to press a button and send them a cunting message. What use is a fucking page of FAQs if it has nothing at all on it in regards to what you want to ask about. There is no button that says “if your question is not answered on this list press here” etc.

I went to product information and got this:

DVD frequently asked questions
HD-DVD frequently asked questions
Blu-ray frequently asked questions
DVD-Audio frequently asked questions
SACD frequently asked questions
Music Download frequently asked questions
Mobile Content frequently asked questions

Ok? What about fucking computer games, probably one of the biggest product areas on the entire fucking site. I don’t WANT to ring them up because the moron on the phone will not know the answer, treat me like a cunt and i’ll end up having wasted my fucking breath.

So if it’s not on their pre-written list, it’s fucking impossible to get help on that topic?
That’s just fucking great isn’t it, definitely a more intelligent way of doing business, prevent the question being asked in the first place. I don’t WANT or NEED to be told what my fucking question might be, I don’t need a pre-made list, I want to ASK a question about the product.

The sheer notion that some poor cunt might want to enquire about a computer game is obviously so radical, so out of the fucking box that play.com can’t even rationalise the event coming into fruition.

Its about this point that I get so angry I want to stick my fucking hand through the monitor I’m currently looking at. Repeatedly, then go off on a trip of rage pummelling and smashing innocent people’s faces against walls and windows leaving a horrendous trail of destruction and murder in my wake.

RRPs

October 22nd, 2009 at 1:49 pm by Dime

I’m a little bit confused recently as to how RRPs for products are listed on differing sites, of differing values. In this case, computer games.

I was under the impression that a list price from a manufacturer was taken as gospel as an RRP, anything made up in an arbitrary fashion internally within a company is a false advertising. Couple this with the fact that every company under the sun selling computer games on the net quotes an RRP as well as their price, giving you an amount saved as either a sum of money or a percentage… things start to get a little rocky.

Now I was looking around for a copy of “New Super Mario Bros Wii”, if it’s anything like the original Mario platformers it’s going to be game of the year. Screw all this 3d crap, give me a fun game to play, anyway I digress.

So naturally I went to a couple of well known sites to lookup the quoted price of said game, so I could put iin a pre-order, shopping around, everyone does it.

What I found didn’t deviate too heavily, but one thing concerned me, what exactly is the best offer, price or savings wise when every fucker has a different RRP? Surely inflating the RRP to suggest a larger saving is illegal, as it’s false advertising and leading people on.

Some findings:
(Please forgive the varying sizes of text etc, direct rips from the website in question)

Gameplay:

Now there are a few other sites with various prices from 30 to 40 quid that don’t specify an RRP.
So er, who is right? What is the RRP of the game and who would set it anyway? The publisher? The distributer?Surely there is only one recommended retail price per game, as for who the authority is on computer games, who fucking knows?

From this site: http://www.newport.gov.uk/_dc/index.cfm?fuseaction=tradingstandards.consumeradvice&contentid=cont104452

What are RRP and MRRP?

The recommended retail price (RRP) and manufacturer’s recommended retail price (MRRP) are suggested prices or price guidelines. Retailers can undercut these prices if they wish, so you should shop around for a bargain.

It is illegal for shops to sell things at more than their advertised price. Our advice is that the business should have a checking system to prevent pricing errors and ensure that any identified are quickly corrected.

So ultimately who is right and who is wrong? The difference here is only a 5er so it’s not a major deal, but if you look at other items on the site the RRP of items such as televisions etc, the price starts to fluctuate wildly until you’re supposedly saving £500 more than another company just because of the inflated RRP.

You can’t seriously be telling me the same people who make the product for a PS3 can actually be two different companies and are a different publisher / distributor than specified on the fucking box? There is only one RRP, I should imagine someone here is lying. I wonder who?

Driving, again.

October 19th, 2009 at 4:54 pm by Dime

I’m becoming more disillusioned with this whole affair. I used to openly enjoy driving places, the freedom it gave, the thrill of shooting down a motorway or country lane at far too high a speed, the anticipation of going somewhere you’ve never been or the freedom of meeting up with friends who have since moved away.

These days however, I’m starting to loathe it. All that happens when I get into a car is I find myself in a situation where I turn into an angry (or more angry) ball of stress that fears for their life every single time I carry out what should be normal, mundane tasks. Such as going around a roundabout or driving down a road; tasks that don’t really require a lot of fucking brain power and where accidents should be something almost inconceivable. Well, maybe not accidents, accidents are apparently faultless in nature, perhaps “incidents” is a better word.

I swear either the amount of fucking morons on the roads are increasing or I’m just noticing it more, and it fucking scares me. Coming back from a standard weekend trip for me, band practise, I pulled up to a junction that goes over a motorway around the Berkshire area, the motorway itself will remain nameless to protect the innocent piece of road. I was driving across the top of the junction in the middle lane, it’s fairly simple. Left lane, goes straight on, middle lane, goes straight on or bares right to feed cars onto the outside lanes so they can then turn left a bit further around the junction. The right lane… well it goes right.

So being sat in the middle lane, what does the car in the left lane do without any warning whatsoever? Yeah you guessed it, they turned right. No signal, no hint of what was to happen, no visibility as their windows were utterly steamed up, just them cutting straight across me at about 40 mph leading me to slam on the breaks so hard the wheels locked. Absolutely no idea how I missed them, how I didnt ram into the drivers door or back end, the dark side of me really wishes I had slid straight into the drivers door and administered a crippling injury, mostly due to the fact that the complete fucking shit cunt wouldn’t be able to drive like a prick any more and hurt someone else.

You see for me that is the biggest issue, it’s not speed, it’s awareness. 100% awareness. Someone who drives at 90mph down a motorway but is absolutely aware of what is going on around them and is able to predict when and where they will need to move is infinitely better than someone sat in the middle lane doing 60mph with utterly no fucking clue of what is going on around them.

Take today for instance and I have no idea why this trend exists at all, must be a gender thing. I was being a good boy, moving back into to the left hand lane when I wasn’t overtaking anything. I was doing about 65 or so, so eventually you catch up lorries etc and want to move out. This situation happened a total of 6 times. Noticeably the three times I put my indicator on to move out, and a man was driving along the middle lane, he saw this, put 2 and 2 together, got 4 and moved into the right hand lane to let me out. Result.

The other three times I’m sat there getting closer and closer to the fucking lorry, signalling to come out, and some fucking idiot women is creeping past me about 2 mph faster than I’m going and hasn’t even noticed that I exist. Even to the point of me sat there level with them using the horn and waving my arms around for them to move the fuck over, they sat there completely and utterly fucking oblivious to me, didn’t move over, caused me to slam the breaks on not to hit the lorry, then just drove off without a clue. All this and each and every fucking time there was nothing in the outside lane at all.

Other situations which happen all too often are people who openly try to police the roads and set a speed limit, whilst already breaking it themselves. Going 80 down a 70 mph road and then thinking anyone else who wants to come past is an asshole. The other day I was openly forced into driving like a complete cunt, totally against my wishes, by someone reluctant to overtake in a timely fashion. I knew a roundabout was coming up, I just wanted to get past the slow car to my left, I moved out.

Someone else moved out right in front of me to effectively slow me down, then proceeded to overtake the car to our left at the said 2mph faster than they were going. By the time they’d managed to get past and pulled in, I was about 10 seconds or less away from the roundabout. We then have the situation where you think “What the fuck do I do now?”. You can’t pull back in, you’re level with the fuckhead who took 2 minutes to overtake 1 car. The other car is sat directly behind mr cunt who took so long to overtake it, you’ve got no room left.

You’re approaching the roundabout fast, you really need the left hand lane to go straight on as after the roundabout it turns into a single track road? What do you do? There are 2 options really, slow down so fucking far that you risk someone going into the back of you, until slow cunt and even slower cunt go past almost causing you to completely stop on a dual carriage way, or fling it around the roundabout so fast your tires screech, lose traction for a split second, and end up making you look like a complete aggressive cunt.

You’ll have to openly excuse the fact I’ve used the same adjective to describe many different people within the last paragraph, openly using the word cunt to describe both the slow driver and the actual “cunt” that put me into a shit position. Such is life, it’s just a word but ain’t it great?

I went for option 2. No doubt that the cunt now behind me who totally forced me into that situation saw how I took the roundabout and thought I was a complete twat, without considering for a moment it was entirely their actions that forced me into that situation by blocking me from overtaking in the first place then limiting my speed for no good reason.

When incidents like this happen I have this little day dream session where I openly wish a giant powerful fist a little bigger than the size of the car punches it and the cunt in it sideways as hard as physically possible whilst it flies through the air into the distance; where of course they eventually hit something like a tree / hill / church and burn to death in a cataclysmic fireball. If only.

Cheryl Cole

October 19th, 2009 at 4:33 pm by Dime

Not much has to be said about this really,  I’m not here to dictate what to think, I think that’s something best left to the individual; and anyone reading this will most likely have made up their own mind in the first instance.

It has to be said, however, that if you’re one of the people out there that verbally suggested, tweeted, texted or otherwise conveyed that “Cheryl Cole was amazing on X-factor the other night” then I’d seriously urge creating a doctor’s appointment as soon as physically possible; mostly because you’d be suffering from the condition known as “being a deluded cunt”.

So, Chris Moyles (whose show I actually like on most days) and anyone else that falls into this category, go fuck yourselves, big style. That useless, talentless, worthless piece of totty dressed up like Britney Spears, prancing around the stage, face mostly hidden, miming to a song she didn’t even write… well if you’re seriously suggesting that she is someone to be celebrated (read: celebrity) then you need your fucking head checking.

Perhaps these people are confusing wank material with actual entertainment? I was under the impression that to be a good entertainer you had to 1) have some talent in the first place 2) show some passion and respect to your fans by actually singing the song you’re up there to perform and 3) use your looks as a secondary boost to your actual talent, rather than it being the main reason you’re up there in the first place. A talentless bitch in a skimpy / revealing outfit on a stage with no talent might as well be a porn star. Except she’s not even THAT useful… so who knows what she actually is.

I managed to catch the Sunday showing of X-factor as my housemate was watching it, hooked as she is to this bland, rigged pile of shite that makes Cowell many more millions. Mostly just out of curiosity having never seen it before; to see what all the fuss is about.

Not that Cowell can really be blamed for hosting this shit, people out there love it, the contestants it seems for the most part have awesome voices and do actually have some talent. Oh and it makes him millions. He’s also a smarty pants for getting little miss Cole on the show for her looks and reputation, something for the dads to wank over later, something for the girls to go “oh she’s lovely I wish I was her”.

The rest of us with a few braincells however, remain disgusted.
The only thing worse than a walking blowjob with no talent are the cunts out there that openly leer over her and put her up on some pedestal for no reason other than wanting to put their cock in her ass; and really, that ain’t good enough because at the end of the day, an ass is still just a fucking ass with a pretty face or not.
